Most water pumps will be installed with Check Valve, because the working characteristics of the water pump and the safety and stability of the system operation need to be guaranteed by Check Valve. It is an indispensable core component in the water pump system, and its application scenarios are very wide, involving chemical, petroleum, electricity, civil drainage, air conditioning and heating and other fields.

For example, in the city's water supply system, water needs to be pumped from the water source to the city's water network system first, and then transported to each water terminal through a booster pump. In this system, almost every water pump is equipped with a non return valve, whose main function is to ensure that the water flows in the prescribed direction and prevent the backflow of water from polluting and damaging the water pump and system.


Water hammer phenomenon

Let's simply assume a scenario. When the city's water network system suddenly stops running, such as power outage or mechanical failure, the water flow will not stop immediately under the action of inertia, but will continue to flow along the pipeline, which will cause the water flow speed in the pipeline to change rapidly, and the pressure will increase instantly, forming a pressure wave.

This pressure wave will impact back and forth in the pipeline, and extremely high pressure will be generated at the impact point, which may eventually cause serious damage to the pipeline, water pump, impeller or valve, just like a hammer hitting, which we also call the water hammer effect.

The function of the back flow valve is to quickly cut off the system pipeline at the moment when the water pump stops running, prevent water from flowing back, and effectively avoid the occurrence of the water hammer effect, allowing only water to flow out, but not to flow back, so as to protect the safety of the water network system.


Check Valve's protection effect

In addition to the impact damage caused by the water hammer phenomenon, water backflow may also cause the following damage:

Prevent impeller from reversing: Water backflow may drive the water pump impeller to rotate in the opposite direction, which may cause the connection between the impeller and the shaft to loosen, or even damage the impeller.

The flange check valve can prevent water backflow and effectively avoid impeller damage, including in some industrial production circulation systems. Impeller damage will force all processes to terminate, causing huge losses. The protection of the non return valve is very critical.

Protect the motor from overload: The reverse rotation of the impeller may also increase the load of the click, eventually overload or even burn the motor. The check valve can protect the motor and reduce the risk of motor failure.


Maintain the stability of the pressure system

In some complex water supply systems or hydraulic systems, the check valve is very important to prevent water backflow. When a certain part of the water pump system has a pressure change, the check valve can ensure the relative stability of the system and provide a stable working pressure.

For example, in some automated production lines, the pressure stability of the hydraulic system plays a vital role in the quality of the product and the control of the accuracy of the equipment. The non return valve is a key guarantee for stable pressure.

The piston check valve not only prevents the backflow of water, but also retains the pressure in the current pipeline in disguise, which allows the water pump to quickly pressurize to the working pressure after it resumes normal operation, instead of starting from zero, thereby speeding up the working process of the entire system.

HY production process

The movement of the valve disc of the check valve is divided into lifting type and swing type. The swing check valve has a hinge mechanism and a valve disc like a door that rests freely on the inclined valve seat surface. The lifting check valve is similar to the stop valve structure, only lacking the valve stem that drives the valve disc. When the inlet pressure is greater than the sum of the valve disc weight and its flow resistance, the valve is opened, and when the medium flows back, the valve is closed.

The main materials used in the check valve castings produced by HY are stainless steel and alloy steel. The valve body adopts a hydraulic process with slow feeding of a 500-ton high-pressure hydraulic machine tool to make the molded blank denser and more accurate in size. The product does not bend or deform during the entire process.
